Pryor Design Company has partnered with the Shelter Association of Washtenaw County to help re-shape their brand ID and website. Providing temporary shelter and support services in a safe and caring environment, the SAWC works diligently with the community and various local organizations to allocate resources to meet the needs of individual adults who are homeless.
"When we started our business, we made a promise to ourselves that we would use our creativity and skills to do more than just sell more product," said Scott Pryor, founder of Pryor Design Co. "When Jared Collins (Marketing Director for SAWC) approached us, we were very excited. I've been in this business for over 18 years, and it makes us feel really good to have access to the kind of work that makes a difference with those that need truly appreciate it. We found the Shelter to be a truly inspiring place driven by deeply caring people. We'll do whatever we can to nurture their brand in the same such manner."
PDCo. started their creative process by touring the SAWC facility and talking with staff members. Based on their initial findings, it was apparent that care, help and hope were the three "core" elements that personified the SAWC the most. Based on these three words, they conceptually built their platform. Starting with an inspiring new logo (forming a figure, a heart and a shelter) they created an identity system that helped to "lift the spirits" of those that work for, pass through or support the shelter. In conjunction with the marketing team at SAWC, the staff at PDCo. then completely re-designed the SAWC website which is scheduled to debut in the summer of 2008. The new brand identity will also help to reshape all of the SAWC printed communication and outreach materials.
"Working with Pryor Design has been a great experience," says Jared Collins,
Shelter Association of Washtenaw County. "Scott and Chris truly listened to what we were trying to accomplish with our brand identity and elegantly found a solution that was both simple enough for us to implement but versatile enough to be effective in all our media. If I had to do it all over again, I’d do it with Pryor Design."
