Pryor Design Company was recently hired by Chateau Grand Traverse to re-shape their brand identity including packaging for their two lines of wines, website, marketing materials and print advertising. In 2007 alone, CGT produced hundreds of award-winning vintages to continue their tradition of wine-making excellence. Established in 1974, Chateau Grand Traverse is Northern Michigan's premier wine experience and is located on Old Mission Peninsula, arguably some of the most picturesque land found in Michigan.

"In our industry, you can go your entire career and never have a chance to work with a brand as unique as Chateau Grand Traverse," said Scott Pryor, founder of Pryor Design Company. "They're a winery, in Northern Michigan, guided by deeply caring people who respect design, and they've asked us to create a fresh new brand presence for them. This really is a dream come true for us."

Beginning with the design of a new logo that needed to relate to the existing CGT logo, the creative staff at PDCo. has been hard at work developing completely new labels for their two lines of wine: Chateau Grand Traverse and Grand Traverse Select. All told, there will be a total of 18 new labels being unveiled in the coming months, and there are plans to include special vintage label designs as those varieties are released. New marketing materials, a fresh print advertising campaign and a soon-to-be launched website are also part of the re-brand effort.

"Working with a design firm located 300 miles away was a scary prospect," says Maia Conway, Marketing Director, Chateau Grand Traverse. "Honestly, I anticipated it to be the biggest challenge in our relationship. However, within days of starting our rebranding, my fears were allayed. The team at Pryor is organized, timely, responsive, intuitive, and most importantly – creative! I have been impressed not only with the work they produce, but the manner in which they get the job done – seamless processes, effective listening and communication, and phenomenal work. So, the real challenge in our relationship has turned out to be deciding which of the three proposed concepts for any given project we like best."
